- Launching project on Wikidata I'd highly encourage folks here to develop further the WikiProject Genealogy on Wikidata. Essentially all types of genealogical data can already be stored on Wikidata... What Wikidata lacks is a friendly way to view the data and draw trees, etc. This can be provided by the new WMF project when it is created and approved... there are a lot of third-party sites that display Wikidata content in interesting ways, including the excellent Histropedia.--Pharos (talk) 01:29, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
- We should establish the first new Wikimedia project since Wikidata: Wikimedia genealogy project. -Another Believer (talk) 01:55, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

mw:Extension:Semantic_Genealogy provides the ability to view genealogy trees and export GEDCOM files.
Familypedia.wikia.com was founded in 2004, using software almost identical to Wikipedia's, and started using three standard semantic extensions in 2009. Familypedia has a well-developed system of templates, which can display on an individual's article numerous data items and tables of spouses, siblings (differentiating half-siblings) and children, with subpages for automatically-generated ancestry trees and descendant lists..Example at http://familypedia.wikia.com/wiki/Heather_Campbell_(1911-2004) Numerous other tables are available, notably tables of people who had events such as birth and marriage in a specific locality or county or nation.
